Jade Colors
Jade Colors & More

As you can see below, virgin jade is a very colorful stone.  It appears naturally in 6 colors: white, black, green, yellow, red and lavender - in all the hues found in nature.  You'll see:

White - from ice crystal, to polar bear fur, to 'mutton fat'
Black - from black hole to black sheep's wool, to stormy sky, to campfire ash
Green- from emerald to cut grass, through new leaves to evergreen trees, from fresh olives to moss, blue-green algae to the sea on a cloudy day, from spinach to prized pippin apple, from almost ripe limes to lichen too.  Any green shade nature has, so does jade.
Yellow - from harvested wheat to butterscotch, from topaz to citrine, honey to canary's wing, fresh melon to bits of tangerine.  Once only the Imperial Court owned and only the emperor
could wear this color. Today it is the most sought after hue by the collector.
Red - the Chinese color of joy, from autumn leaf brown to red ochre, dark terracotta to dried cranberries, from vintage burgundy to fresh blood.
Lavender - from palest lilac to smoky sunset mauve to subtle orchid, sometimes with veins or
spots of green (prized) or amethyst shades.

What makes jade colorseven more intriguing is that they can naturally mix or layer, with multiples appearing together - often as background shading, like a stained glass window.

That's because all fine jade is light permeable to varying degrees. If light won't pass through,
(and it's not 'black hole' black), it's not jadeite.  It may be nephrite (a more commonly found type of jade) or something else entirely.  Yet beware of too permeable - jadeite has internal structure you can see, it's crystalline.  Be real careful of glassy-looking "jade".

Also be careful of "Chinese jade".  The Stone of Heaven is only found in the sacred Mountains of the West, in Burma, hence 'Burmese jade'.  In ancient times it required long journeys to obtain, adding to its rareity and value.

Why Virgin Jade is truly different:
When jadeite is altered (treated or dyed) it looses its efficacy. It's no longer a charm. It's just a
piece of jewelry. The marketplace is filled with jewelry. Mercury's Marvels is the first to offer only
finely crafted, virgin jadeite talismans, with respect for their original intention and the special
myths they contain..  Clck HERE to view our amulets, and HERE for our Special Jade Gifts.
